From the airport, it takes about 5 minutes to drive to Shirahama Beach and the main onsen area, and around 30 minutes to reach the Adventure World theme park or the Kumano Hongu Taisha shrine.

By Bus: Local bus services connect the airport to Shirahama Station on the JR Kinokuni Line, as well as major hotels and attractions. The journey to Shirahama Station takes roughly 10 minutes. Buses align with flight arrivals, but schedules can be limited outside peak hours. For destinations like Tanabe or Nachi-Katsuura, changing trains at Shirahama Station is recommended.

By Taxi: Taxis are readily available outside the terminal. Fares to central Shirahama are modest, usually under ¥2,000. Taxis are a good option for those with heavy luggage or travelling in groups.

Nearby Cities: The airport is about 10 minutes by car from the town of Shirahama, 30 minutes from Tanabe city (the regional hub), and roughly 1.5 hours from Nachi-Katsuura or Kii-Katsuura. To reach Osaka, it takes about 2.5 hours by car or a combination of bus and limited express train (Kuroshio). For travellers heading to the Kumano Kodo trails, the airport provides close access to the western trailheads.
