Bandara Ranai Natuna Raden Sadjad (NTX) sits on the eastern coast of Natuna Besar, the main island of the Natuna Regency in Indonesia's Riau Islands province. Getting There

Ranai Airport is located about 3 kilometres south of the town centre of Ranai, the regency seat. The journey takes roughly 10 minutes by road. Taxis and ojeks (motorcycle taxis) are available at the terminal when flights arrive, but it's advisable to arrange transport in advance through your accommodation, as vehicles are scarce outside arrival times. There are no ride-hailing apps operating in Natuna. The road from town to the airport is paved and in reasonable condition, passing through small settlements and patches of forest. If you are staying in one of the nearby villages, such as Sepempang or Ceruk, the drive can extend to 20–30 minutes. Inside the Terminal

The terminal is small but functional, with a single level handling both arrivals and departures. On entering, you'll find a check-in hall with a few counters. Security screening is basic: you pass through a metal detector and your bags are x-rayed. The waiting area has plastic seating for about 50 people, and the atmosphere is quiet, with occasional announcements in Indonesian. The confirmed facilities include a wheelchair-accessible entrance, a wheelchair-accessible car park, and accessible toilets. The terminal has separate male and female toilets, kept reasonably clean. There is no airside lounge, but a small kiosk near check-in sells snacks, drinks, and basic toiletries. For arriving passengers, baggage claim consists of a single carousel that can become crowded during peak times. Getting around Natuna Besar requires hiring a car or motorbike — public transport is almost nonexistent. Roads are decent on the main island but can be rough in the interior. The airport is the most reliable way to reach the regency, as sea travel from other Indonesian islands is infrequent and can take more than a day. Flights from Batam take about one hour, and from Jakarta about two hours. Because flight capacity is limited — the largest aircraft serving Ranai is the ATR 72 — tickets can sell out weeks in advance, especially during holidays. For those who make the journey, Natuna offers a rare chance to experience a part of Indonesia that few tourists see.
