Small airport! Worked well for us, our bags arrived promptly, the bathrooms were bare bones. Large parking lot and bus stop at the end of it.
Nice convenient very small airport with the basic necessities.
Small and dirty airport. Better not to go to the toilets. A big shame as Milos island is beautiful. Unpleasant welcome at the airport does not leave a good impression.
We had a lovely experience! For sure the airport is bare bones with only necessities but the SkyExpress staff were very nice our bags were loaded onto the airplane without issue and we picked them up easily in Athens. Flight Was quick and easy no issues!
Kratikos Aerolimenas Miloy, known in English as Milos Island National Airport (MLO), is the sole commercial airport serving the volcanic Greek island of Milos in the Cyclades. It is a domestic airport handling flights from Athens and, seasonally, from other Greek islands and European destinations. The airport primarily caters to tourists visiting Milos’ famous beaches, archaeological sites, and traditional villages, as well as residents travelling to and from the mainland. Due to its relatively short runway, operations are limited to smaller aircraft such as the ATR 72 and Airbus A320 family. The airport is busiest during the summer months, with peak hours typically around 2pm and 3pm when several arrivals coincide.
The airport is located approximately 5 kilometres east of Adamantas (also spelled Adamas), Milos’ main port town, and about 6 kilometres southwest of the island’s capital, Plaka. Its address places it near the coast on the island’s north-western side. Getting to and from the airport is straightforward:
The terminal is compact but provides essential services for a smooth journey. Confirmed amenities include:
Other facilities such as ATMs, currency exchange, or luggage storage are not present. The nearest banks and ATMs are in Adamantas. Wi-Fi is available, but the signal can be inconsistent; consider downloading maps and entertainment before arrival. Charging points are limited, so bring a portable charger.
Milos is the south-westernmost major island of the Cyclades, renowned for its dramatic volcanic landscape, which has shaped both its geography and history. The island was a major source of obsidian in antiquity, and later of minerals like bentonite and perlite, which are still mined today. Tourist attractions revolve around its spectacular coastline featuring over 70 beaches, many only accessible by boat. Key highlights include Sarakiniko’s white lunar-like rock formations, the colourful hot springs at Paleochori, and the catacombs of Milos – some of the most important early Christian catacombs in Greece.
The island is also famous for the discovery of the Venus de Milo statue (now in the Louvre) near the ancient theatre of Milos. Traditional villages like Plaka, Trypiti, and Klima (with its colourful ‘syrmata’ boat houses) offer authentic Cycladic architecture and local tavernas. Adamantas itself is a lively port with ferry connections to Piraeus, Santorini, and other islands. Milos attracts visitors seeking a mix of relaxation, geology, archaeology, and authentic Greek island life away from the most crowded destinations.
For the most current information on transport, dining, and other services, ask at the arrivals desk or consult the island’s tourism office in Adamantas. Despite its small size, Milos Airport offers a convenient gateway to one of the Aegean’s most distinctive islands.
