I really liked Uruguay Airport and the country as a whole.. This is the airport and Montevideo
The place is now more comfortable and expanded, with snack options and a car rental agency in the passenger terminal.
The airport is very nice, with clean, accessible, and spacious restrooms. There are water fountains available free of charge. There is no food court except for a kiosk from Casa do Pao de Queijo (a Brazilian cheese bread shop). But otherwise, everything is fine, the staff are helpful, attentive, and friendly. The baggage carousel wasn't working when I disembarked, so the man carried my luggage by hand. The air conditioning isn't very powerful. But there is hand sanitizer available.
Uruguaiana International Airport (IATA: URG) is a modest international airport serving the city of Uruguaiana in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. As a border airport, it plays a key role in connecting southern Brazil with northeastern Argentina, particularly the city of Paso de los Libres, located just across the Uruguay River. The airport primarily handles regional flights, with occasional international services. It is used by both business travellers and tourists crossing the border, as well as local residents traveling to other Brazilian destinations.
The airport is situated approximately 6 kilometers from downtown Uruguaiana, in the western part of Rio Grande do Sul. Its location near the border makes it a convenient entry point for travelers coming from or going to Argentina. The access road connects directly to the city center and the international bridge linking Uruguaiana to Paso de los Libres.

Nearby cities and towns include Alegrete (about 100 km east), Itaqui (80 km south), and São Borja (150 km north). On the Argentine side, Paso de los Libres is just a short drive across the bridge.

Uruguaiana lies in the heart of the Brazilian Pampas, a vast grassland region known for its cattle ranches and gaucho culture. The city itself is an important commercial hub, largely due to its border position. The agriculture sector dominates the local economy, with major production of rice, soybeans, and livestock. The region also has a strong tradition of horsemanship and rodeos, which attract visitors during festival seasons.
The Uruguay River forms the natural border between Brazil and Argentina here, and the international bridge (Ponte Internacional Agustín P. Justo – Getúlio Vargas) is a key crossing point for both goods and people. Travelers often use Uruguaiana as a gateway to explore the Argentine Mesopotamia region, including cities like Corrientes and Posadas.
For those interested in natural landscapes, the nearby wetlands and rivers offer fishing, birdwatching, and eco-tourism opportunities. The area experiences a humid subtropical climate, with hot summers and mild winters.
Remember to check flight schedules in advance, as service may be limited. Allow sufficient time for check-in and security, given the airport's smaller scale.
