This is the main aerial gateway to Botswana. The airport is compact, but suits the expected traffic load. The staff are friendly and ready to help. Make sure, you know where you're going to stay, and for how long you intend to be in the country as the immigration officer may just give you that number of days visa. Please note that your bags are checked physically for fresh fruits. Also be aware of what and which currencies you're carrying as, they may record it in their books. During flight arrivals, the counters are usually busy. The whole airport is level access and easy walking. Just outside the arrivals hall, public transport is available, currency exchange and supermarkets to buy water and essentials. ATM machines are nearby too.
A nice small airport. Transfer from the small plane is smooth, a short plane ride and a short walk in. The bags are delivered quickly, and it is painless to get checked-in again. For international flight you sit in a small terminal. There are plenty of chairs. There's a free water tank, but other than that there is only a vending machine with chips and drinks (reasonably priced). There is a small store with jewelery for sale. The airport feels recently updated, and is clean.

I've never left an airport review before but feel compelled to warn people that the security screening staff here are downright nasty and incompetent. I have flown through hundreds of airports around the world, including throughout eastern and southern Africa, but these were the rudest security staff I've encountered. First, a lady stared at our passports/boarding passes for a solid few minutes and repeated our names out loud over and over again (mocking our foreign names?). We then put our items onto the conveyer belt to be scanned, and were yelled at aggressively as if we'd done something wrong, even though we were just following security protocols. Once she stopped shouting and our bags had finally been scanned, some more staff took an exceedingly long time to rummage through our bags, and admitted they had no idea what they were even looking for. We had to open every single toiletry item, container and compartment in our bags just to convince them all we had was soap/liquids under 100ml. The behaviour of the security staff here was abnormal, argumentative and uncalled for, and they are clearly abusing their positions of power to make people feel uncomfortable. As a passenger, I would recommend getting to the airport early as all the unpleasant interactions with security staff took a lot of time and stress. Maun Airport, I hope that for the sake of future travellers you train your staff to treat people with basic respect.
