People travel to Narrabri for business connected to agriculture, mining (the nearby Gunnedah Basin coal mines), or to visit family. The cost of flying into Narrabri is high—Link Airways and FlyPelican operate small aircraft (typically 18 to 34 seats), and tickets from Sydney can cost over $300 one way. Many locals drive the six hours to Sydney instead. But for those short on time or travelling from Brisbane (via Inverell), flying is the most practical option.
